Accessibility

Built to be usable, not just to look good

This site is built for retirees. That shaped real decisions about type size, contrast, targets, and motion.

Last updated September 2026

What we have done

  • Base text is set larger than a typical marketing site, and it scales up further on large screens.
  • Pinch-zoom is not disabled. You can enlarge any page with your browser or device.
  • Buttons, links, and form controls have a minimum target height so they are easy to hit with a mouse or a finger.
  • Every interactive element has a visible focus outline, so keyboard users can always see where they are.
  • A skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the main content.
  • Images that carry meaning have descriptive alternative text. Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Form fields have visible labels, and errors are tied to their field and announced rather than shown only as color.
  • Headings follow a real outline, so screen reader users can navigate by structure.
  • There is a light and a dark theme. The control sits in the same corner of every page, and inside the menu on phones.

Motion

This site uses animation sparingly: content eases into view as you scroll, and menus and accordions open with a short transition. All of it respects your system reduced-motion setting. When that is on, content appears in place without moving.

Nothing on this site flashes rapidly, plays audio automatically, or moves in a way you cannot stop by scrolling past it.

Where we are aiming

The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA. Accessibility is not a state you finish; it is something that needs checking again every time the site changes.
